Some of the St Lawrence's youth players were on the road early this morning, having to leave home for 7:30 in order to get to Derby for a 10 am blitz - our first of the year.

St Lawrence's had received an invitation from St Joseph's based in Derby and we were pleased to be able to bring some of our young guns to play in an U9s and U13s blitz.

19 players in total made the trip to the midlands and competed fabulously in what was a beautiful day with high temperatures. Both sides played three games apiece, with some great football and scores on show and no shortage of energy. It was great to get some games under the belt this early in our season and it will stand the children in good stead for the months ahead.

A big thank you to Dermot Thornton (Warwickshire CDA) for such a well organised day and for our hosts St Joseph's who put on some food and drinks for the children, which was gratefully received. All games were played with a great spirit and a big thank you to all competing teams, St Joseph's (Derby), Naomh Padraig (Leicester), Sons of Erin (Northampton), St Marys (Wolverhampton) and our neighbours St Brendan's (Manchester)

Once again, thank you to all the children, parents and mentors for their continued commitment and support in making what was a very enjoyable day. Like all enjoyable days in the sun, it couldn't be completed without a visit to the ice cream van before heading back on the road to Manchester!

Meanwhile back at Turn Moss Our U7s&Minis, Girls and U15s/U17s were all hard at training despite the traffic doing its best to hinder peoples plans.

If you want to get involved in youth gaelic football and become part of a family friendly club then please get in touch via the usual social media channels. Boys and Girls (ages 4 - 17). #StLawrencesGAA
